Summary

Three decades building software end to end — web, mobile, desktop, data, cloud — almost always on data and infrastructure I own. I’ve shipped owned-data products since 2006, from SEO directory networks to today’s freight-intelligence stack, and most recently put AI at the core of transportation software (model selection, token/cost analysis, prompt testing, prompt-injection defense). I also drove CDL-A — two years hauling Arms, Ammunition & Explosives for the DoD with a Secret Clearance and TWIC — and never stopped building; much of this stack was written from the cab. I know freight from the driver’s seat to the codebase.

  • Shipped an offline-first truck GPS (Kotlin Multiplatform, iOS + Android) with on-device map tiles, routing, and geolocation for 251M North American addresses — truck-legal routing with zero signal.
  • Own the data moat: 30M+ businesses, national carrier records, and ~500K overpass clearances verified by AI vision. An MCP server in every product, so an AI can operate it.
  • AI engineering discipline: model selection, token/cost analysis, prompt testing, and prompt-injection defense.

CDL-A Driver — DoD Arms, Ammunition & Explosives
  • Hauled AA&E for the Department of Defense and high-security aerospace loads across 49 states and half of Canada. Secret Clearance, Passport, TWIC. Van, flatbed, tanker. Clean driving record.
  • Built software concurrently from the road (team-driving nights): self-taught OpenStreetMap and map-tile serving — the foundation of the truck-nav stack — and built an options-trading algorithm on the Interactive Brokers API (paper account) that scores contracts and places orders.
  • Ran a distributed crawl fleet from the truck over mobile networks, feeding the owned data moat.

  • Service Quote Pro (→ MyBizEZ) — a field-service management platform grown from software I built to run my own tree company; first mobile apps (Android/Java, then SwiftUI), much of it written while driving at Crete Carrier (2018–19).
  • 2 Guys Tree Service (founder, 2010–2017) — took it to #1 on Google locally and sold it with its management software.
  • Owned-data / SEO businesses since 2001 — .NET and web starting as a church network admin; a Google-certified AdWords professional who built directory networks on aggregated datasets (the origin of today’s 30M-business moat), monetized via AdSense and affiliate revenue.

Selected engineering highlights

  • 251M-address offline geocoder + router — more coverage than OSM or OpenAddresses; truck-legal routing from Chiapas to Alaska, fully on-device.
  • AI-vision overpass verification — validated clearance on nearly half a million North American overpasses using computer vision on street imagery.
  • Distributed data aggregation — a recursive domain generator + multi-threaded crawler covering 80M+ websites, with proxy, captcha, and user-simulation infrastructure at scale.
  • National Lead-Management / CRM / POS — built from scratch: OAuth + IdentityServer 4, Twilio, AWS SNS/SES, and multiple payment gateways.
  • Custom distributed mobile-app testing platform with GPS-routing integration.
  • Algorithmic trading — migrated an Interactive Brokers strategy from Python to C#.

Off the clock

What I do for fun is find new problems and solve them with a keyboard and mouse — it’s what I do all day, every day. I also weld, and built my own office from studs to drywall to the mini-split — but that part’s function, not recreation.
